Gary Gunderson, Vice President for Faith and Health at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Gary is known for more than two decades of creative work in the field of faith and public health initially at The Carter Center and Emory School of Public Health. In Memphis his ideas found ground through 530 congregational partners showing hard evidence of significant improved outcomes including mortality, cost and dramatically lower hospitalization. He is a frequent speaker and author of several books, including Speaking Life; Religion and the Health of the Public, with James Cochrane; Leading Causes of Life, with Larry Pray; Boundary Leaders; and Deeply Woven Roots. He serves as secretary of Stakeholder Health.
Glenn Davis is an ordained Baptist minister and a graduate of College of Charleston (BS) and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div.). Glenn is the Director of the First Responder Chaplaincy Program, a hospital-based, community-focused model of chaplaincy. Prior to joining FaithHealth, he served 27 years as the full-time Chaplain for the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office providing on-call staff support and crisis intervention for law enforcement and other first responders as well as survivor-victims of crime and other trauma. Glenn and the first responder chaplain team routinely deploy to assist law enforcement, fire and EMS and other organizations in the aftermath of critical incidents.
Chris Gambill, Director of the Center for Congregational Health. Chris has an undergraduate degree from WakeForestUniversity, an M.Div. from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. in Industrial- Organizational Psychology from Capella University. He has previously been Sr. Consultant at the Center, and is a Board Certified Coach. An ordained Baptist minister, Chris has served previously as a pastor, interim pastor and as a campus minister at UNC-Charlotte, NC State University. He and his wife Joy also served as student workers in Taiwan, Republic of China.
Bryan Hatcher, President of CareNet Counseling at Wake Forest Baptist Health. Bryan has served CareNet for more than 20 years as a therapist, clinical and program leader, and President. CareNet is the statewide community-based behavioral health program of FaithHealth. Bryan holds a B.A. from Mercer University, M.Div. from Duke University, M.S.W. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and is currently completing a Doctor of Public Health from UNC-Chapel Hill. He presents often on the topics of integrating behavioral health and primary health care services, and Adverse Childhood Experiences and Trauma Informed Care efforts.
Maria Teresa Jones, is the Chaplaincy Program Manager for Staff Support of the Winston Salem Campus. She provides support and education to medical staff on issues related to moral distress, compassion fatigue, grief, and resilience. Jones also provides counseling to employees that apply for assistance through the Employee Emergency Fund — responds to patient care units, and to medical center departments who are facing critical challenges related to employee loss or demanding work stressors. Jones holds ordained and endorsed ministerial standing with the United Church of Christ and is a board certified chaplain through the Association of Professional Chaplains.
Brian K. Davis is the Director of Community and Congregation Engagement at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Prior to joining the FaithHealth staff, he served churches in North Carolina as a staff minister and a pastor for thirteen years and as the Associate Executive-Director Treasurer for the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina for nearly fourteen years. He holds an undergraduate degree in education from NC State University, MDiv from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and DMin from Erskine Theological Seminary. He is married to Jill and they have two sons, Aaron (married to Shelby) and Benjamin.
Jeremy Moseley, Associate Vice President for Faith and Health at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.Jeremy was born in Kinston, NC, and attended UNC-Chapel Hill and East Carolina University, with foci in public health, policy, analysis, and management. He worked for the NC Division of Public Health for 4 years, Duke University, and other health care organizations before coming to WFBMC in 2011. He is Director of Community Engagement in FaithHealth. His hobbies include listening to jazz, watching sports and spending time with his family.
Keith Stirewalt serves as the Program Director – FaithHealth Clinical Medicine and as a Physician Assistant – Palliative Care for WFBH. He is a Baptist minister and chaplain. He earned his B.A. in Chemistry from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, his P.A. from the Bowman Gray School of Medicine-Wake Forest University, his M.B.A. at the Bryan School of Business at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro, and his M.Div. at the Wake Forest University School of Divinity. Keith completed his chaplain internship and two years of chaplain residency at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Keith’s work focuses on the narrative interaction of clinical medicine, theology, end-of-life, serious illness, advance care planning, and bioethics.
Emily Viverette, Director FaithHealth Education. Emily is a minister affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Emily is a graduate of Elon University (B.S.) and Vanderbilt Divinity School (M.Div.). Prior to seminary, Emily taught high school math. Emily served as the Director of CPE at Alamance Regional Medical Center before joining the faculty in 2009. Emily is Director of the Department of FaithHealth Education. She is married to Michael, and they have two children, Jack and Lily.
Julie Whitfield, Administrative Manager. Julie has worked for the Medical Center since 2008 and has a background in finance accounting. She is the Administrative Manager for the division of FaithHealth, responsible for a variety of management functions including finance accounting, administration, project management and day-to-day operations. She assists the Vice President and the Directors with their work as it relates to the mission and vision of FaithHealth. She also serves as a liaison to the Board of Trustees for the Medical Center and the Baptist Benevolent Fund Committee. She has been married for 21 years to her husband Resal, and they have three children, Courtney, Triston and Ella.
