Introduction to the Community Resiliency Model
Thursday, April 7, 8:30-9:45 am
Chapel Basement Conference Room*
Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center
The Community Resiliency Model (CRM) teaches practical skills that people can use to feel better emotionally, be healthier physically, and be more resilient. It takes complex scientific information about our bodies, puts this information in simple, easy-to-understand language, teaches how stress and trauma affect our bodies, and helps everyday people restore and maintain the health of their nervous systems and their bodies.
CRM teaches people how to help themselves and how to help their friends, family, and others in their social network. CRM skills are being taught and used in healthcare systems, schools, churches, jails, daycares, and other community groups. The Trauma Resource Institute, which coordinates training and research in CRM, has sponsored CRM trainings in Haiti, the Philippines, Nepal, Ivory Coast, Tanzania, Rwanda, and in communities throughout the United States.
This 75-minute orientation to the Community Resiliency Model will introduce some of the basic concepts and skills. It will be focused on FaithHealth partners in our community work:
- Supporters of Health
- Connectors
- Chaplains
- Pastors
- Nurses
- Physicians
- Counselors
- Community Leaders
A two-day training will be offered July 15-16, 2016 for persons interested in learning CRM skills more thoroughly. This orientation will allow you to learn basic skills and with instructions on how to bring this to your community.
The presenter is Russell Siler Jones, director of CareNet’s Residency in Psychotherapy and Spirituality.
