Claudia has her master’s degree in Health Administration, a dual bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership and Business Administration, and an associate degree in Clinical Dietetics. Claudia’s career spans 32 years dedicated to community engaged programming focused on family engagement, health, and educational equity.  Prior to joining Imprints Cares, she was Associate Director with the Maya Angelou Center for Health Equity at Wake Forest School of Medicine. Currently, Claudia serves on the North Carolina Advisory Committee on Cancer Coordination and Control; co-chair of the Wake Forest School of Medicine Clinical Translational Science Institute Community Stakeholder Advisory Committee; member of the Winston-Salem Early Learning Task Force.

Shannon Heck is Director of Development and Marketing at Imprints Cares, has her master’s degree in Secondary Education from Washington University and a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Wake Forest University. Shannon’s career in nonprofit development spans two decades. She is committed to securing financial support to fund Imprints Cares mission driven work to nurture children for lifelong success. Prior to joining Imprints Cares, Shannon was the Philanthropy Coordinator at Crisis Control Ministry and the Director of Development at the Children’s Law Center. Currently, Shannon serves on the Board of the Triad Association of Fundraising Professionals and as a member of the Education Committee for Leadership Winston Salem.

Imprints Cares has been a vital nonprofit in Winston Salem for over 5 decades, promoting educational and health equity in our community.  They are committed to addressing structural barriers which prevent children and their families from reaching their full potential by embracing cultural diversity and continuously seeking to create safe and inclusive environments where children can learn, grow, and thrive.  They believe every child deserves an equitable opportunity to grow, learn, and thrive regardless of their zip code or circumstances. Thirteen years ago,  Imprints Cares implemented Expanded Learning, which partners with Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools (WS/FCS) to provide high quality before and after-school programming and summer enrichment camps in Forsyth County.  Additionally, unlike many local nonprofits, Imprints Cares continued to provide services throughout all of the COVID-19 Pandemic. And, under both Claudia and Shannon’s leadership, Imprints Cares has established a much stronger and sustainable plan for continuing their essential work with many of Forsyth County’s most vulnerable children.  For that, their team deserves a gold medal!
