Join us for an informative FaithHealth Grand Rounds, led by our wonderful colleague, Laneita Williamson, RN, BSN, CBIS, on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 from 9-10 am
Laneita will be sharing on the topic of “Trauma Informed Care in an Acute Setting – The Journey.” Trauma Informed Care (TIC) promotes culture and diversity, provider knowledge, staff health, reduction of workplace violence, improvement of patient outcome and satisfaction, decreased hospital visits, decreased re-traumatization and forges cross-collaborative relationships between medical and community organizations to interrupt intergenerational transmissions of adversities and to improve upon large system issues, minimizing silo approaches to health or social needs.
Ms. Williamson, since 2014, has been the top champion and one of the top practitioners and educators at WFBH in this domain. Working tirelessly amidst her various day jobs at WFBH, without extra compensation, she has been on a much-needed crusade to educate staff about the benefits TIC. In the last few years, WFBH senior leaders have recognized the need to expand her TIC efforts and she now works with a full team, the WFBH TIC Task Force, to make sure that WFBH staff are fully trained and proficient in this arena. She’ll share about the past journey of TIC here at WFBH and the work that is going forward now.
Laneita is an Infectious Disease Telehealth Triage Nurse with a strong focus on the HIV and substance misuse patient populations. Her career has included staff nursing, management of post-acute care evaluators and assessment coordinator, and Medicare compliance. Through her life and career experiences with her 18 years of practice in acute inpatient rehabilitation and certification in brain injury, Laneita created a Trauma Informed Care curriculum for Wake Forest Baptist Health. She holds both an RN, BSN and is a CBIS (Certified Brain Injury Specialist).
