‘Hearing’ in Order to Speak to ‘Unspeakable’ Pain

Join us for a free video conversation with Dr. Ron Wachs, licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor for CareNet

Watch the Video HERE. This event has already taken place.

Our conversation will focus on how Pastors are like a 24/7 ER, asked to respond to the spectrum of life’s vicissitudes . Like the peddlers’ adage, “you can’t sell from an empty wagon”, not attending to the pastor’s own well-being can lead to burnout or worse. The presentation will highlight some of those ‘unspeakable ‘ times and places.”

Dr. Wachs is a licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor. He is an ordained United Methodist minister with over 15 years of service in parish ministry. After completing his clinical training in 1992, he worked as a part-time therapist at Baptist Hospital until becoming full-time in 2001. Having previously earned an M.A. from Wake Forest University and a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he taught History at Atlantic Christian College, now Barton, from 1968 to 1983. His areas of clinical interest include depression, grief and loss, life stage transitions, issues of aging and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR).

This is a free event, but registration is required and participation is limited to the first 100 registrants. This event is provided by the FaithHealth Division of Wake Forest Baptist Health, including CareNet, Inc., and the Center for Congregational Health.

Thank you for all you do in your community. We look forward to seeing you at this online event!
