Soul Shop for Youth Workers is a one-day, faith-based training designed specifically to equip persons to minister to youth who are impacted by suicidal desperation.
Since 17 percent of youth are seriously considering suicide and 10 percent of youth will attempt suicide before age 30, Soul Shop for Youth Workers is essential training for anyone who works with youth in a paid or unpaid capacity.
Special attention is focused on youth-specific issues of impulsivity, contagion, and confidentiality. The training lays a Scriptural foundation for ministering to suicidal desperation among youth, and also includes how to recognize warning signs, how to engage in life-saving conversations, and how to keep youth safe.
In addition, Soul Shop for Youth Workers provides practical ways to integrate this ministry into lesson plans, group activities, and one-on-one conversations.
Brian Kuhn, Soul Shop for Youth Workers Specialist
Brian has a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling and is a Licensed Professional Counselor. He is the Director of Youth & Family Ministries at Webster Groves Presbyterian Church in St. Louis, MO. Church, adolescents, ad faithfulness are his passions in life and he works hard to constantly bring all those elements together. He frequently teaches workshops, and speaks to groups about topics like the adolescent brain, sex and sexuality, suicide, and building a youth ministry and congregation that is not afraid to address and embrace the challenges of adolescents, parenting and being community.
