5th Annual School & Community Walk to Stop Bullying

Begin a chain reaction of kindness by joining us on Saturday, Oct. 10, 8 a.m. at BB&T Ballpark (Home of the Dash). In recognition of National Bully Awareness Month

Register online or on site.

Bring “Change for a Change!” to support the NC Chapter of  the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention.

Bullying Facts: Did You Know?

  • One of every four students is bullied.
  • 64% of children who were bullied never reported it.
  • Most studies find that only 25% to 50% of bullied children talk to an adult about the situation.
  • Students who are bullied are at increased risk for depression, anxiety, sleep difficulties and poor school adjustment.
  • Students who bully others are at increased risk for substance abuse, academic problems, and violence later in adolescence and adulthood.
  • 43% of teens reported they have experienced cyberbullying (NCPC, 2002)
  • 20% of students admitted to cyberbullying others (CRC, 2010)

Take Action:

  • Report the incident to WS/FCS Bully Patrol on the school or district website: “Quick Links >Bully Patrol”
  • Tell someone you trust – no one needs to feel alone.
  • If someone confides in you- listen and be supportive. If you are concerned for yourself or someone else’s safety, there are counselors, psychologists, and social workers at school to help you.
